Thankful to be in Georgetown

Hello,

We hope everyone had a joyous Thanksgiving and are preparing for the onslaught of shopping deals and Christmas music.

We are at anchor off of Georgetown in Great Exuma in the southern Bahamas. So far, we have sailed 206 miles and have 148 miles to go to get to Cuba.

The sail down Thursday was wet and wild with 25-35 mph winds and 12 foot swells.  Several times waves washed over the upper deck and drenched the cockpit. After 9 hours we finally entered Georgetown Harbor, dropped anchor and poured a drink to celebrate.

Yesterday we shopped to restock our provisions, but have been reminded that we are on the edge of civilization and there are no malls or Publix like at home.  A bag of chips cost $7 and salad dressing is $6.  You really think about what goes in your cart.

Today we sail to the Ragged Islands, which are mostly uninhabited.  Anita is hoping to find some beach treasures and catch a fish along the way. Goodbye for now!
